The Science of HIV project aims to use animated visualizations and illustrations to captivate, inform and educate diverse audiences.  Animations, 3D-rendered illustrations, and this website were created by members of the Animation Lab at the University of Utah (Janet Iwasa and Grace Hsu) in collaboration with HIV researchers around the globe, and reflect current hypotheses on how HIV infects the human body.

Watercolor paintings (shown in the Illustrations section) were created by David Goodsell (Scripps Institute).

This project was funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and was carried out as part of the CHEETAH and HIVE consortia.
